Special Hand Carved Baglan Dunhill Meerschaum Pipe - In a class by itself, this magnificent Dunhill carving is of a bearded man smoking a pipe with another bearded man smoking a pipe with yet a third bearded man smoking a pipe! Master Carver I. Baglan is well known for his head carvings and this Dunhill pipe carving with its repeated pattern is one of his most spectacular pipes. Each of the 3 faces are carved in full detail including the pipe, beard and nightcap. Of special note is how Baglan carved see through openings in the hair of the beard in the first man and also a gap between the nightcap and tassel. It takes a masterful talent to carve these openings and while doing so, not break the pipe! The underside and shank of the pipe is carved in a detailed palm leaf pattern.
Baglan's signature is found underneath on the smooth band at the end of the shank. The polished fully bent designer stem is scrolled in an extra fanciful design and it is marbled in shades of amber colors. The pipe was dipped in a special wax formula made by Baglan to give the pipe a rich creamy color finish.
Beyond outstanding, this pipe is a fantastic addition to any meerschaum pipe collection and a definate conversational piece. And yes, the pipe can be handled and smoked!
This meerschaum pipe is hand carved from genuine 100% Solid Block Meerschaum imported directly from central Turkey. After the pipe is carved it is dipped into beeswax to provide a protective coating and to also draw out smoke particles and tar. The pipe will continue to color over time as it is smoked. The stem is made of a special Amberoid Acrylic for a nice finished look and long lasting durability.
