Hand Carved Black African Meerschaum Pipe - This pipe is an unusual find. It is African meerschaum carved in Turkey. African meerschaum came from what is now Tanzania and is no longer mined. The pipe is a smooth finish yet has a very light textured pattern, similar to round lattice. It has a long shank and connects to a marbled bent stem.
This meerschaum pipe is hand carved from genuine 100% Solid Block Meerschaum imported directly from the central plains of Turkey. After the pipe is carved it is dipped into beeswax to provide a protective coating and to also draw out smoke particles and tar. The pipe will continue to color over time as it is smoked. The stem is made of a special Amberoid Acrylic for a nice finished look and long-lasting durability.
Every meerschaum pipe we sell is hand carved so no two pipes are exactly the same. Each hand carved pipe comes in a custom made black leather and velvet lined brass hinged case which is custom fitted and unique to that individual pipe.
