Freehand Sitting Smooth Meerschaum Pipe - This wonderful piece of freehand meerschaum has a beautiful polish and is in excellent shape for being over 45 years old! The freehand pipe's curved shaping fits fingers comfortably, and the opulently silky texture is a delight to hold. The smooth bottom is flat, allowing the pipe to sit in between puffs and not topple over. The bent saddle stem is unusual, with coloring in the center surrounded by a pearlescent white.

Although unsigned, this finely carved meerschaum pipe bears strong hallmarks of Bekler’s early craftsmanship. The style and technique suggest it was created during his formative years, prior to his formal association with CAO. During the early 1970s, Bekler was discovered by pipe collector and importer Irving Korn, who recognized his immense talent while on a sourcing trip in Turkey. At that time, Bekler was carving unique freehand pieces independently, often unbranded. This pipe likely originates from that pivotal period.

Carved from 100% solid block meerschaum of exceptional quality, despite its grand size, the pipe remains lightweight, making it not only a stunning display piece but also a comfortable smoke.

The pipe comes in its original black leather custom-fitted case, handmade with brass hinges and soft velvet lining for protection. While the leather case shows very minimal signs of wear, it retains its structural integrity and adds vintage charm to this collectible piece.
