Andreas Bauer & Sohn Wien Meerschaum Pipe in Wood Chest - Pre-owned, highly collectible Andreas Bauer & Sohn Wien pipe is from the late 1970's or early 1980's. The pipe was smoked with mild coloring on the bowl and rich coloring on the shank. The unique half saddle stem and 3.5 inch tamper are made from Cultured Amber, a type of acrylic blend that holds its coloring and is stronger than pure amber. Great collector's pipe as well as a fine smoking pipe that is in excellent condition for a pre-smoked pipe with no visible chips or cracks. Comes in a velvet lined varnished wooden chest with the Andreas Bauer and Sohn Wien signature logo. On the outside of the wood chest is a brass plaque showing the Andreas Brauer and Sohn names along with the production number 1025 and "Finest Cultured Amber" is stamped on the opposite side.

Andreas Bauer of Vienna, Austria started production in 1908 and was known as the finest meerschaum pipe manufacturer of his time winning many awards for excellence in quality and design. Staying true to its reputation through these many years, the company merged with Koncak Meerschaum in Eskisehir, Turkey in 1990.

The pipe comes from the estate of Patrick Dean Hall of North Carolina, an avid gardener, lover of animals, and life-long passionate meerschaum pipe collector who loved to smoke his pipes.

This meerschaum pipe is hand carved from genuine 100% Solid Block Meerschaum and was imported directly from Turkey. After the pipe was carved it was dipped in beeswax to provide a protective coating and to also draw out smoke particles and tar. The pipe will color even more over time as it is smoked. The stem is made of the finest cultured amber for a nice finished look and long lasting durability.
